Welcome Fall!

It has started to feel like Fall here in Michigan.  Yesterday was cool, overcast and breezy.  We have three huge trees in our front yard that start dropping their leaves in August and our yard is covered.

A few of the them blew in our front door as I was taking pictures and I almost left them there for effect. Then I thought you would think my house was dirty! ;)
All my faux foliage was bright orange, red and yellow when I bought them.  I decided I didn't like them so bright and went to my impressive collection of spray paints.  I used a metallic copper and lightly sprayed until all the colors were softened.

I like how the paint tied them in with my copper rooster and glass pumpkin.
This copper rooster used to be part of a weather vane that was on the roof of our cabana.  He broke off after several years but I hang on to him.

This is the view out of our guest room looking at the garden in front of the family room.

So Happy Fall, Y'all!  It is such a beautiful time of the year!

love and blessings~

  1. I miss the leaves changing and falling!!
But, here in North Central Florida, I will be content with this coming week not having temperatures in the 90's :) It would seem that we are having a chance of rain almost every day and Sunday night will even be in then60's YEAH!!! I will take that!! :)
Your foyer is so pretty all dressed for Fall and the front lawn beautiful in it's Fall leaves.

  2. I like how you used elegant (mirror) and rustic (table and decos) together...
I used to break my back raking our yard when all the leaves fell...then it dawned on me how beautiful they looked so I stopped doing that. :)
Fall looks goooood around your pretty place.

    1. Thank you, BJ! We used to rake a lot and then figured out that we could use our riding mower and it mulches all the leaves! So we just mow once a week. A lot easier than raking!
Hope you're having a great weekend!

  3. Lynda,
I LOVE your creative heart of spray painting the leaves with metallic paint!!!
The leaves have a softness about them, yet still within the Traditional color palette of Autumn!!!
    Gorgeous foyer, dear friend!!!
I did go out of doors and brought three "yellow" hued leaves indoors, pressed and placed them on an accent table!!!
Thank you for sharing and inspiring!!!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  4. Gorgeous fall vignette! And I really like the idea of spray painting the leaves! I have some that I packed back up because either the color had faded over the years, or were just too orange! I'll have to try this technique! ~Rhonda
