At Christmas, my husband and I made a shopping run down to Grand Rapids and stopped in at our favorite used furniture store.
I was amazed to spot a set of lamps - exactly like the ones I had wished for! And they were $20 a piece!
I used two colors of chalk paint right over the brass to get an uneven finish. Then I lightly sanded them to let a little of the gold shine through. I bought these lamp shades at Lowe's here in town.
I mentioned in my last post that I had added to my blue and white collection. I found this ginger jar at HomeGoods along with the little garden stool.
I added a silver footed tray on top of the dresser to drop keys or set your coffee on as you're going out the door.
It won't be spring in Michigan for a long time yet but this room feels fresh and bright and I love that.
I also want you to know that as I'm editing these pics, I can hear my 6'4" son in this room practicing his dribbling and watching himself shoot in this mirror. *sigh* So if anything's missing the next time I show you this room, it might have been 'killed' by a basketball!
Have a great day!

Great score Lynda. Luv when things like that happen. Your entry looks bright and fresh, beautiful . I can only imagine a long winter as it has been sometime since Ai have lived anywhere but North Central Florida. We get cold days and dreary days, lows in the 20's and an occasional teen degree morning, but never weeks of it... just the odd few days .And almost always brilliant sunshine.
ReplyDeleteStay warm.... enjoy the pre Spring of tour lucky entry.
Hugs, Gee
Thank you, Gee! Yesterday we had a complete white-out with blowing snow and a wind-chill factor of -9. A friend of mine just spent a week in Florida and posted all kinds of wonderful pictures of the ocean and palm trees and glorious sun. *sigh* You are a blessed woman!
DeleteLynda, your entry just couldn't be any prettier. That space is magazine worthy!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Stacey! You made my day! :)
DeleteWhat a great find!!! You did an excellent job with the painting of them too. I just purchased two candlestick lamps and love them. The entry is just beautiful looks so elegant. BTW I love that mirror it is just gorgeous! Where did you find it? Love the one in the living room above the small chest too :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Candy
Thank you, Candy! I found the entry mirror at HomeGoods. It was all white when I bought and I painted it to coordinate with the dresser. The other mirror was purchased about 15 years ago from a second hand store in Virginia when we lived there. Have a wonderful weekend!
DeleteLynda- everything is just lovely! I am addicted to blue and white. I will have to hit Home Goods to see what they have.
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing better than finding something that was a bargain that can be transformed. The lamps are wonderful!
Thank you so much for joining our first ever Thoughts of Home on a Thursday! We are so glad you did!
Thank you, Laura! HomeGoods is my favorite! I hope you find something wonderful!

DeleteLynda Your entry would be something that I would thoroughly enjoy. Your thoughts and ideas on what to look for when you are shopping and how to refinish your great finds surely inspire all of us. I am too wondering who inspired you and perhaps encouraged you to decorate.
ReplyDeleteBlessings Nancy
Thanks so much, Nancy! My mom has always had wonderful taste and so I grew up in a 'pretty' home. It's something I've enjoyed doing since I was a teenager. (And that was a long time ago!) ;) Have a blessed day!
DeleteWoo hoo! You know I love your entry. Thank you so much for linking with Thoughts of Home on Thursday. :)

Great lesson in not overlooking a treasure just because it may need some work. You revived the lamps beautifully. As this is my first visit with you, I need to say that I love your decorating style. Very refreshing.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Elizabeth, and thanks for visiting!
