Happy Friday! I'm glad to be back! Everyone in my family and Laura's family, Foundations of Sapphires, has been sick with either stomach flu or a bad cold/flu. We are thankful to God that we're all feeling better and getting some energy back!
So this morning, feeling a little stir crazy from being in the house too much, I decided to try a project that I've thinking about for a while.
Being a 'Francophile', I love French linen but I haven't been able to find it anywhere. I'm also tired of sewing and have been feeling like these chairs in the living room were a little boring.
I don't know if I was still a little feverish or what but I decided to paint them to make them look like they're slip covered in French linen. (I don't even know if there's a French linen with an aqua stripe but maybe I'll start a trend - lol!)
I taped my stripes onto the chairs with painter's tape. At this point I thought it looked more like racing stripes than anything French!
But since this isn't the craziest thing I've ever done I got out the paint. I started out on the back of the chair in case this turned out to be a total disaster and I could hide it.
First I used my Sherwin Williams 'Deer Valley.' When I pulled off the tape, I thought it looked a little green. So I dug around in my paint supply and found my bathroom paint which was the bluest aqua that I had. And I went back over the stripes. Then I thought it was painted a little more solidly than I liked. So when I started painting the front of the chairs I went with a much lighter hand.
My son got up about the time I was in the middle of this. He looked at what I was doing and didn't even comment - just ate a bowl of cereal and went back upstairs - lol. After all, he's lived with me all his life.
Feeling very French, I pulled off the tape and although I was all alone, yelled, "Voila!"
What do you think? I really like it. I'm not going to show you all of the room. My new fabrics arrived and I'm making some pillows and other things with them. I've also ordered some new art and am waiting for it to arrive.
I think I'll also make some lumbar pillows out of the white to go on these chairs and give them the French linen treatment too.
Have a great weekend!
