We live in Big Rapids, Michigan. We bought our house over 10 years ago. It was definitely a 'fixer-upper.' But it had such a wonderful floor plan with high ceilings, lots of windows and 3 fireplaces that I told my husband that "This is the one!"
We have filled it with antiques, estate sale finds, and second-hand furniture which I slip cover, reupholster, and paint. My husband and I also started building furniture this year.
Over the years we've made A LOT of changes but there are still some things we'd like to do. It's changing all the time but here it is...for now!
The Entry Hall
When we bought our house this room had dirty tan wallpaper and berber carpet. We replaced the carpet with ceramic tile, and added the chair rail and crown moulding. This room has been through several changes over the years. You can see them here.

The Living Room
All of the furniture in this room has slip covered or reupholstered. You can see the changes over the years here.
Our Dining Room
My husband also built our dining room table.

Your home is beautiful. I noticed you used the same shade of soft blue and was wondering if you would share the color name and brand of paint?
ReplyDeleteThank you, Beverly! I used Sherwin Williams 'Interesting Aqua' in the Entry Hall. I painted the shutters with 'Interesting Aqua' and Sherwin Williams 'Rain' which is a lighter color. The walls in the family room I mixed myself but is 'Rain' at a 50% intensity. In other words - 1/2 Rain and 1/2 white. I hope this helps. I mix my own paint a lot to get the color I want. I'm not very good at visualizing those little 1" paint chips!
ReplyDeleteYour home is beautiful! So glad to find you. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Stacey! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work throughout your home, Lynda. Visiting from Marty's blog. Love especially your LR, DR and Family room - how all the colors blend, yet you've kept it grounded with the great pieces of wood furniture you & your husband have made.
